Lizzy Turns 2!

This week was Lizzy's 2nd Birthday. This event was very bittersweet for us. We are going to miss our 1-year old baby. Right on schedule, Lizzy has started to say No to everything. It's still cute at times because she often doesn't even mean it, but she can already throw a pretty good fit when she wants to.

The last month has been busy. We've spent lots of time at toy stores; letting Lizzy play with everything to see what she would really like for her birthday and Christmas. Lizzy also loves Santa so we've hit a lot of the malls around so she can see him; though she has no desire to go anywhere close to him. Her cutest new phrases are Birday (Happy Birthday) and I Wuv Vou (I Love You).

We built a fort for Lizzy and her cousins to play in on Thanksgiving Day

Lizzy recently got a new life-size Minnie Mouse. For weeks they were inseparable and we could get Lizzy to do anything as long as Minnie was doing it.

Max loved Christmas Mickey  for so long that Mickey got "urgently called away on business"

This time she was able to blow out the candles all by herself - and she was done
blowing them out long before the song was over. :)

Lizzy's last month

Lizzy has now hit 23 months and it's hard to believe that we are reaching an end to giving her age in months and moving on to years. Lizzy has had a busy month, celebrating Halloween with all of her cousins and getting ready for the Holidays. She is learning and growing so quickly. She continues to learn a couple of new words daily and lately is learning a lot of new words that we don't ever use with her and don't know how she learned them. Some of her current favorite words are:
  • ChitChee - her version of Trick or Treat
  • Pease - Please (she is getting really good at using this)
  • Good Job - this is her current compliment of choice.
  • Sandy! - Lizzy loves the old Annie movie, particularly the part where Annie is calling her dog, Sandy. After seeing it, she likes to walk around with her hands cupped over her mouth yelling Sandy.
  • Baby - When Lizzy first learned to say her name, she said something like Diddy, but called all babies Diddy, as well. At some point she learned to say baby correctly but at the same time she stopped saying her own name.  So now, she just calls herself baby.
For an almost 2-year old, we think she eats pretty well. A lot of times she refuses everything we offer to her, but then there are times when she eats the same things as us and eats everything we give her.  We're glad she likes some reasonably healthy things like wheat bread, eggs, rolls, cheese and strawberries and grapes. She also loves Nutella, Pretzels and our homemade salsa.

Here are pictures from the last month:

22 months

It's been another big month in the life of Lizzy as she has now hit 22 months old. The last month we have been settling back into life after our big family trip and been spending lots of time with family due to the death of Shawn's grandma.

We really enjoyed watching General Conference this time with Lizzy. We watched all 4 sessions at home and Lizzy was so good during it all. Though it isn't really exciting for a 1 year old, Lizzy stayed in the room and played quietly during all 4 sessions and even managed to pay attention to a lot of it. She loved the songs and started to recognize the Prophet. While she was busily playing we were surprised that she seemed to be paying some attention to the talks because anytime a speaker mentioned something she knew from a Primary Song she would start doing the actions for that song.

Lizzy loves coloring and can consistently tell us when something is purple or pink, though she is still working on perfecting her other colors. She also loves counting things though she really only knows one and two.  She just says two, two and you know she's counting.  One exciting thing is that she has now learned how to steer her Tangled 4-wheeler which she got last Christmas.

Lizzy is just starting to call animals by their names rather than making their sounds. Also, every time she sees animals now she calls them either Mommy or Baby, depending on their size. She has seen one or two animals she's thought are daddies, but most are mommies and babies. She is really talking up a storm lately and most of what she says is now in sentence form. She says things like (note how most of her sentences start with "I want"):
  • I want that
  • I want go there
  • I want hold it
  • I want show mommy
  • I want pay (Meaning to check out at the grocery store; or, can we leave this store now?)
  • I want pink jacket
  • I have two
  • That's a horse
  • I did it
  • It breaked
  • She is also getting better at saying Thank You, Sorry and even tries to say Gesundheit every time we sneeze.
  • Cool - she uses this just like we do when she finds something she thinks is cool
  • She also knows many of the Disney princesses now - Sheepy (Sleeping Beauty), Rella (Cinderella), Bow (Belle), Pow (Rapunzel), White (Snow White), oh and somehow she says "Ribbit" for Tiana!

2nd Annual Jones Family Trip

Janell and I have been going on annual trips for many years, but it wasn't really the Jones Family trip until Lizzy came along. She makes everything so much more fun. We took our 2nd annual family trip in September this year and below is a picture log of our travels.

First, we stopped in St. George and hit Zion's National Park

Then we drove to San Diego and spent a day seeing things there. This is our new favorite beach spot, Coronado Beach Resort.

Old Town, San Diego

The San Diego Temple. After this temple, Lizzy now knows and can say Temple.

She also associates flowers with temples now
