22 months

It's been another big month in the life of Lizzy as she has now hit 22 months old. The last month we have been settling back into life after our big family trip and been spending lots of time with family due to the death of Shawn's grandma.

We really enjoyed watching General Conference this time with Lizzy. We watched all 4 sessions at home and Lizzy was so good during it all. Though it isn't really exciting for a 1 year old, Lizzy stayed in the room and played quietly during all 4 sessions and even managed to pay attention to a lot of it. She loved the songs and started to recognize the Prophet. While she was busily playing we were surprised that she seemed to be paying some attention to the talks because anytime a speaker mentioned something she knew from a Primary Song she would start doing the actions for that song.

Lizzy loves coloring and can consistently tell us when something is purple or pink, though she is still working on perfecting her other colors. She also loves counting things though she really only knows one and two.  She just says two, two and you know she's counting.  One exciting thing is that she has now learned how to steer her Tangled 4-wheeler which she got last Christmas.

Lizzy is just starting to call animals by their names rather than making their sounds. Also, every time she sees animals now she calls them either Mommy or Baby, depending on their size. She has seen one or two animals she's thought are daddies, but most are mommies and babies. She is really talking up a storm lately and most of what she says is now in sentence form. She says things like (note how most of her sentences start with "I want"):
  • I want that
  • I want go there
  • I want hold it
  • I want show mommy
  • I want pay (Meaning to check out at the grocery store; or, can we leave this store now?)
  • I want pink jacket
  • I have two
  • That's a horse
  • I did it
  • It breaked
  • She is also getting better at saying Thank You, Sorry and even tries to say Gesundheit every time we sneeze.
  • Cool - she uses this just like we do when she finds something she thinks is cool
  • She also knows many of the Disney princesses now - Sheepy (Sleeping Beauty), Rella (Cinderella), Bow (Belle), Pow (Rapunzel), White (Snow White), oh and somehow she says "Ribbit" for Tiana!

2nd Annual Jones Family Trip

Janell and I have been going on annual trips for many years, but it wasn't really the Jones Family trip until Lizzy came along. She makes everything so much more fun. We took our 2nd annual family trip in September this year and below is a picture log of our travels.

First, we stopped in St. George and hit Zion's National Park

Then we drove to San Diego and spent a day seeing things there. This is our new favorite beach spot, Coronado Beach Resort.

Old Town, San Diego

The San Diego Temple. After this temple, Lizzy now knows and can say Temple.

She also associates flowers with temples now

Waiting to go into Disneyland

Lizzy really wanted to meet Tinkerbell, but was shy when when we got to her

Lizzy's favorite ride, both last year and this year, It's A Small World

Making herself comfortable in Minnie's living room

Playing in Mickey's house

Posing in Mickey's garage

Driving a car in Toon Town

21 Month Vignettes

So I keep thinking I'll post these stories as they happen, but that just hasn't happened.

"Shaw"

This is one of Lizzy's new words.  She uses it to call for Daddy when he's far away or she can't get his attention.  I guess she learned that from watching Mommy call for him.  We were expecting her to call us by our first names at some point, but at one???  Anyway, she uses it mostly for Dad, occasionally she would call Mom "Shaw" in the beginning too.  She's now called for "Nell" a couple times.  Mostly just Daddy though.

Shoes

One morning as we were heading out the door Lizzy had set out my shoes for me. I was like oh, thanks!  We had been shopping for several hours before I noticed I was wearing long black pants with tan sandals!

Good Girl!

The other day we were riding in the car and Lizzy couldn't get her toy egg back together.  When I fixed it for her and handed it back she said, "good girl!".  I guess she understands that when someone follows instructions well that good girl is the appropriate response.  :)

Here are some of her current favorite things:

WORDS:
Yeah, Ba-bye, See Ya.
This, There, That, Um..., Two
Color, Purple, Paper
Thank you, Sorry, Help!
Girl & Boy

ACTIVITIES:

Thanksgiving Point, Coloring (constantly), and Swimming.  She loves jumping in over and over.  And in her life vest she can kick herself down the whole length of the pool.

Thanksgiving Point Farmer's Market
FOODS:
Frozen Gogurt, Applesauce and chicken nuggets.  She doesn't really want anything else ever.

She also really loves Dumbo, and of course,  Tinkerbell!
