The Big 2-0

Well, Lizzy is now 20 months old and had another fun, summer month. She has loved spending lots more time with her cousins and is going to miss them big time when they go back to school. One of our favorite activities was riding the TRAX Train downtown and then playing in the Splash Park at the Gateway. Lizzy also loved the PBJ Family End of Summer Bash when we did a hike up Rock Canyon, played at Seven Peaks Water Park and Lizzy saw her first movie in the theater, Winnie the Pooh.

Favorite Foods:
- Gogurts (Frozen)
- Tortilla chips dipped in sour cream
- Plums
- Strawberries
- Fruit snacks, but only if they're Tinkerbell.  She will not eat Rapunzel ones or other princess, etc.  IMO, there's a 50 percent chance that the others are actually harder for her to chew.  Whatever the reason, it must be Tinkerbell.

Lizzy's favorite new words:
- Seal
- Shoulder
- Sa (Sun and Sunglasses)
- Moo (Moon)
- Tar (Star)
- Slide
- Swing
- Yeah (We are loving this one.  She says it all the time now! It's now safe to ask a yes or no question.)
- Bru (Brush, she carries her brush around all the time. And every time we leave the house she carries a little purse with her brush and other essentials in it. She takes really good care of it and never leaves it anywhere or forgets it.)

She loves playing inside this cupboard.  We have since moved everything out
(except toys) and she just closes the doors and has a good time.

Another favorite activity is driving the car.

This is when we went downtown to ride TRAX since Lizzy LOVES trains.  We
stopped at the Gateway just to have a destination.  We had a great time at the
splash pad and luckily there was an Old Navy nearby... she was DRENCHED. (See the video below.)

Another new favorite activity is coloring.  In fact, colors and counting are two of her favorite things.

Loving cousin time during the hike as part of the PBJ End of Summer Bash

At 7 Peaks as part of the party.  We've loved being able to go for "free".  :)

For a special date we went to Farm Country with Anna.  Here's Anna on the Pony Ride.

Here's Lizzy crying "Chur" (Turn) over and over during the whole ride.
(We've tried her riding it in the past and she'd never let us put her on the pony.)

The magic of having a cousin do it first.  Lizzy took her first pony ride!

Anna and Lizzy enjoying the farm animals.

For a special date with Stephen we went to the Dinosaur Museum.  But we stopped at the
gardens while we waited for the museum to open.  Don't they look cute walking together?

See we really went to the Dinosaur Museum.

So the Tillamook tour came to Thanksgiving Point.  We love both so count us in for that!
Lizzy just carried her cheese sample around.  She wouldn't eat it, but she wanted to keep it.

This is Squawkers McCaw.  He was a gift from Shawn's parents a long time ago and
Lizzy has just recently started loving him.  They dance together.  I guess we should get video of that soon.

So, I was going to post some videos, but they aren't uploading for me.  I'll try to post those soon...

New Pictures

I've been meaning to post a real post, but while I work on that here are some new pictures we got:

So, Lizzy wasn't a big fan of the photo shoot, but when we told her to knock on the door and
see if any cousins were there she got really excited.

She wasn't so happy when no one came to the door.  Guess we'd better sit down and wait!

2nd Summer

Lizzy's 19th month was a big one. Early in the month she switched to one nap, which we've been a little scared to do, but she handled it like a champ. She is also completely off the binky now. On a possibly related note, she is getting so strong willed and will throw some pretty good fits. Not sure they are tantrums but she can be unreasonable for 20-30 minutes.

She also doesn't forget. If she wanted something before she went to bed last night, she will wake up asking for it this morning. The good news is that she can now communicate what she wants really well with words. It seems like she is saying 2-3 new words every day and she is starting to combine 2-3 words together which is awesome. Some of her favorite words are:

  • Chur - My turn, which is a good start on her learning to share.
  • Wawa - Which now mostly means pool/swimming. Every time we walk into our garage she grabs her tube and runs down our driveway towards the pool.
  • Popu - Popcorn
  • Traberr - Strawberry
  • Apu - Apple
  • Upu - Up (almost indistinguishable from Apple lately)
  • Down - Man she loves this word
  • Datu - Vacuum**
  • Aiya - Lizzy's favorite movie now is Tinkerbell. We discovered that she believes her cousin Ali is Tinkerbell, so she calls Tinkerbell Aiya now.
  • Nun - Run (she says, "Nun, Nun, Nun" as she runs everywhere")

**She loves playing with vacuums.  We have a tiny vacuum that is "Lizzy's vacuum" and she loves to help mommy vacuum.  But then we have my mom's carpet cleaner in the back closet.  So I've had to explain that she can't play with "Grandma's vacuum".  She's only just started to use two words together so we were really suprised the other day when she went in the back closet and said bapa datu.  She really knows that one is grandma's vacuum!

Lizzy's favorite foods are strawberries, Tinkerbell fruit snacks, popcorn, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, popsicles and ice cream cones. She is loving the summer. She loves to run and play outside and is thrilled to spend lots of time with her cousins. We are glad to have parks, Trafalga, Thanksgiving Point and the pool so close. It's been an awesome 2nd summer for her. Lizzy also loves talking on the phone and Skyping with her grandparents.

Eating chocolate waffles and strawberries

Riding her new horse. Must be an action shot, it's so fuzzy.

She was probably saying "Chur" at this moment (asking for the camera)

BYU's #1!
Lizzy loves our BYU shirts because they all have a circle or an oval with a Y on them which she calls a ball. It got to the point where she would wake up in the morning and only want to put on one of our "ball" shirts, so Janell had to take her to the BYU Bookstore to get her a blue BYU shirt that looked just like ours.

Pulling the Heisman pose

Playing at Thanksgiving Point Gardens in her new "ball" shirt

Helping Daddy shuck corn

Lizzy loves eating our homemade salsa with a spoon

Getting ready for the Provo Freedom Festival Parade w/ Passmores

Lizzy didn't like it much - way too loud
Doing Snap Pops with Max

Playing with her cousins

Lizzy loves spinning Max around in the high chair

Just chillin'

Turns out bowls make good hats!
