Springtime in Lizzy Land

Lizzy is now 4 1/2 months old. She has reached an age where she is doing something new every day and it is awesome. At her 4 month checkup she was 15 1/2 lbs and 26 1/2 inches long. That puts her in the 88th percentile for weight and 98th percentile for height. Lizzy rolled over for the first time 2 weeks ago, tummy to back first, and has done both ways a few times since then. She is pretty adventurous and loves to be swung upside down and up into the air above us. Her favorite thing is to swing in Daddy's arms towards Mommy.

She prefers to stand in our laps over sitting and loves to walk with us holding her hands. She has even stood by herself while holding onto the couch a couple of times. Lizzy does a great job of sitting up in her Bumbo, Exer-saucer and recently joins us at the table for meals in her high chair, where she just plays with her toys while we eat. She really enjoys holding and sucking on toys now and will really lunge at things and grab at everything in front of her.

And now for the bad news. Last Sunday morning we found Lizzy on her stomach in her crib, which isn't that bad except that she sleeps in a velcro swaddler, so it doesn't work to keep her in that once she starts rolling over in her sleep. Monday morning we found her on her stomach again so we decided we would have to do away with the swaddler, which she has slept in every day since she was born. So, she is having a hard time getting to sleep and staying asleep at night now.

The good news is the same night that Lizzy turned over in her sleep the first time she also decided she didn't need to feed in the middle of the night anymore and she has gone all night ever since. We feed her at 7pm and she doesn't feed again until 7am. That has been awesome, even though she doesn't sleep as well at night without her swaddler.

Yesterday we tried feeding her rice cereal for the first time. She didn't appear to like the taste or get the purpose of putting something that solid in her mouth (pictures below and a video is coming soon). But last night we put just a little in her 7pm bottle and she loved it. We are hoping this will help her get to sleep and stay asleep better. And now for the pictures:

Lizzy just decided she wanted to walk to Mommy so off she went with some help from Daddy.

This is Lizzy's Aspen tree at the Thanksgiving Point Gardens. It was new last year and every time we passed it we talked about how we will bring Lizzy to see it this year. Now her and the Aspen have a bit of a rivalry going on to see who can grow faster.

The first of many awesome faces made while eating rice cereal for the first time.

P.S. We took Lizzy for a photoshoot this week. You can see a sneak peek on the photographers blog by clicking here. Our favorite pictures are her in the sunglasses, her with the parasol and her in the BYU outfit.

What is it with petite mothers & chubby babies? Why does it always work out like that? :)
