Exciting August

We had a very full and exciting August.

In early August, the Kyles' graciously offered us some free tickets to Lagoon so we spent a day there. Lizzy loved Bulgy the Whale the best and rode it about 10 times.

One morning we were sitting in church when all of a sudden some long, lost friends from Texas, the Ebberts walked in. Turns out they have relatives in our ward and had come to visit them. One of their girls was in Sunbeams so we got to have her in our class for a day. Here is Lizzy with her new friend from Texas (far right) and a couple other girls in our class.

Lizzy starts soccer in September and loved getting some gear and starting to practice on her own

Lizzy also spent a lot of time playing with a neighborhood friend

In mid-August while Lizzy had a break from pre-school and things were slow at our offices, we took a trip to Granby, Colorado. We had this trip scheduled for June but had to reschedule it to August. The condo was small but had some fun things on property and a lot of cool stuff close by. We also spent a fun day in Denver.

There was an awesome rec room where we played Wii, XBox Kinect, Foosball, Pool and Lizzy's Favorite - Ping Pong.

We found an awesome little hike to Adams Falls

At the Denver Temple. Lizzy is now starting to get old enough to be able to take pictures of us.

We also got to see Janell's old house in Arvada

At the Colorado Mills mall, Lizzy found a really fun horse she could ride

Lizzy and Shawn finally got to check out the famous Casa Bonita

Doing some shopping at Winter Park

At some point during the trip, Lizzy got ahold of a phone and figured out how to turn the camera around to take pictures of herself

This is the first time we took a long road trip in our small car with Lizzy, and it was not as much fun for her so we were just glad to have her entertained for a bit

We also found a YMCA Ranch close to our condo and spent all day there. Lizzy loved playing mini-golf.

The ranch had bike rentals and lots of great trails. Lizzy loved riding her tag-along bike.

We finally had a good experience canoeing on the lake at the ranch

And they even did a campfire and Smores that evening

Lizzy's first time eating a Smore

Taking a short break at the Colorado River on the way home

Lizzy lost interest in the garden while we were planting things and trying to take care of them but now that they are producing vegetables she loves it

At the end of August, we went to Swiss Days. Lizzy loved playing in the bounce houses while Janell did some shopping.

Lizzy was so excited to get to go to Max's Birthday Party at Chuck E Cheese's

Lizzy spent all of her tokens on rides and always wanted to do rides that her cousins could ride with her

And Lizzy had her first official day of Pre-School
We also had a couple of scares this month. In early August, we went to Cherry Hill for Shawn's work party. Right before dinner we were all hanging out in a pavilion and Janell decided to run back to the car, which was on the other side of the park. Soon after she left, Shawn noticed that Lizzy was missing and figured that she must have gone with Janell. As soon as Janell got back and didn't have Lizzy we both started freaking out. By this time, Lizzy had been gone for about 10 minutes. We both started running back into the park to find her. Luckily, soon after trying to follow Janell, Lizzy realized that she had lost her and so she immediately walked up to a nearby mommy and said, "I'm Lost". The mommy got her to a lifeguard and then alerted all the other workers so everyone we talked to knew they had her and she was safe, though it took us a few minutes to find the lifeguard who had her since they were walking around the park.

Then later in August, Shawn and Grandma Bailey were loading some things into his car to take to DI. While they were loading, they let Lizzy play in the front seat. The keys were in the ignition, but the car was not running.  She loves playing in the car pushing all the buttons and turning on the wipers and messing up our mirrors but that is all she's ever done. At one point, Shawn and Grandma Bailey went inside to get another load and when they came back out 30 seconds later, Shawn's car was 10 feet back from where it had been. The car had been parked on a driveway with a slight slope but once it got to the street the slope went back up. By the time Shawn jumped in the car, it was in Park, so we aren't positive exactly what happened but were very glad that this didn't end up worse than it did.

Here's hoping things settle down a bit in September.
